Job Description:

Step into the role of a Loader Operator and let your motivation, problem-solving skills, and teamwork abilities shine. At our cutting-edge mills, you won’t just be working in a safe and efficient manner; you’ll be working hands-on with a dynamic team, actively involved in the day-to-day success of our Axis, AL, sawmill. This role is a permanent full-time position working Monday-Friday.

Job Responsibility:

  • Load and unload logs as directed, ensuring production expectations are met
  • Remove logs from the kick out bin daily with the knuckle-boom loader
  • Ensure painted and oversized logs are taken to the metal yard, while others are placed back on the log deck
  • Perform daily cleanup duties around the metal log field and kick out bin
  • Fill in at the Scalehouse as needed, handling various scale functions and log loading/unloading
  • Perform or assist with weekly preventative maintenance on machinery and complete daily check sheets
  • Adhere to all safety rules and procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and promoting safe work practices

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of manufacturing experience in an industrial environment operating heavy-duty equipment
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Capable of sitting and/or standing for the entire shift (8-12 hours) and climbing in and out of machinery without assistance
  • Frequently able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable working in varying weather conditions, with exposure to dust, vibration, and high noise levels
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A high degree of urgency and attention to detail
  • Desire to learn, grow, and succeed

Nice to have:

Knowledge of the wood manufacturing industry and machine operator/maintenance experience are considered an asset
