Under the general direction of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Health and Professional Studies is responsible for divisional leadership that supports the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the College. Includes the following instructional programs: Veterinary Technology, Radiologic Technology, Nursing (ASN and PN), Education (Early Ed, Elementary, Secondary), Culinary Arts, and Human Services (Developmental Disabilities, Addiction Studies, and Mental Health).
Job Responsibility
Responsible for divisional leadership that supports the mission, vision, and strategic goals of the College
Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of assigned instructional programs, services, budget, grant projects, course scheduling
Provides leadership in curriculum, academic assessment, and strategic planning
Responsible for leading the Division in data-informed decision-making and important initiatives that further equity and diversity
Assists in identifying and seeking opportunities in College fundraising
Fosters collaborative working relationships with internal and external counterparts
Exercises leadership in the development and evaluation of Division curricula
Represents the Health and Professional Studies Division and College in appropriate public and private forums
Provides leadership for faculty in designing and implementing a student learning outcomes assessment program
Monitors enrollment and graduation data and provides leadership to the Division on recruitment, marketing and retention issues
Monitors the instructional programs to ensure compliance with various accrediting bodies
Develops, coordinates and maintains cooperative relationships with area health care providers and staff of other external agencies
Adheres to the MCCC/MTA and the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreements and College Policies
Prepares agenda and chairs Division meetings
Serves as a member of the Academic and Student Affairs Leadership Council and other College committees
Oversees the coordination and compliance of health records and CORI/SORI review
Develops plans for ensuring safe Main Campus labs as well as in the Center for Health Education and the Culinary Arts Institute
Oversees the development of alternative clinical assignments while ensuring accreditor approval.
Requirements
Master’s degree or higher in health, education, culinary arts, human services, or a closely related field
At least five (5) years of progressive responsible administrative experience in academic leadership, including budgeting, at the level of Chair/Coordinator/Manager/Supervisor
At least five (5) years of full-time undergraduate teaching at university/college level
Knowledge of online, hybrid, and remote learning as it pertains to education in the professional studies represented in the Division
Cultural Competency and experience with Equity initiatives
Understanding of the importance of HSI-serving Institution. Ability to work with diverse student and employee population
Proficient with technology including Word and Excel, and LMS (Canvas)
Possess effective and consistent interpersonal, organizational, conflict resolution, communication, management, and organizational skills.

In depth experience in working with one of the professional disciplines housed in the Division
Knowledge of and possession of analysis skills related to outcome assessment measures in service to improved student learning
Experience in supervising unionized staff in an academic or clinical setting
Experience in securing and administering grants
Knowledge of various accrediting procedures including but not limited to ACEN and MA Board of Registration requirements for RN and PN nursing programs, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the American Culinary Federation (ACF)
