We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Dover who are looking to recruit an experienced De-escalation Mentor to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role is suited to someone confident managing challenging behaviour and skilled in de-escalating situations to help pupils remain safe, engaged, and regulated within the school environment.
Job Responsibility:
Supporting pupils with SEMH needs during periods of dysregulation
Actively de-escalating challenging situations in a calm and appropriate manner
Working 1:1, in small groups, and within the classroom
Supporting pupils to develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
Working closely with teaching, pastoral, and leadership teams
Requirements:
Has experience working in SEMH environments or with pupils with SEMH needs
Is confident in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
Can remain calm under pressure and build strong, trusting relationships
Is resilient, patient, and consistent
Is available to start ASAP or after May half term
