Job Description

We are working with a specialist SEMH school in Dover who are looking to recruit an experienced De-escalation Mentor to support pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. This role is suited to someone confident managing challenging behaviour and skilled in de-escalating situations to help pupils remain safe, engaged, and regulated within the school environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs during periods of dysregulation
  • Actively de-escalating challenging situations in a calm and appropriate manner
  • Working 1:1, in small groups, and within the classroom
  • Supporting pupils to develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
  • Working closely with teaching, pastoral, and leadership teams

Requirements

  • Has experience working in SEMH environments or with pupils with SEMH needs
  • Is confident in behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • Can remain calm under pressure and build strong, trusting relationships
  • Is resilient, patient, and consistent
  • Is available to start ASAP or after May half term
