Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO&I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO&I, the Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) organization is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a passionate, high-energy individual to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services. This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Redmond, WA or Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work, up to 40%.
Job Responsibility:
Assessing and minimizing risks to the business through AMERS wide Construction delivery execution strategy decisions in close collaboration with the AMERS EPC functions
Assessing and supporting the work of the sub-regional teams with respect to project delivery under the 5 main pillars of Safety, Quality, Schedule Performance, Cost Management and Environmental/Community engagement targeting consistency across the region
Support the regional construction lead with effective onboarding of the new employees
Assessing and tracking the performance of the AMERS construction team and supporting the team in successfully reaching its goals
Monitoring delivery performance and developing plans to improve in line with strategic objectives
Performing weekly tracking of projects within the USWest & Canada Portfolio
Hosting weekly production tracking meetings with the USWest & Canada construction teams and regularly monitoring and gathering progress and risk updates from metro construction teams
Performing weekly reporting to CO+I project management leads and accurately portraying risk and schedule status of each project
Working closely with the regional scheduling lead and EPC functional team to support the development of a backward pass construction schedule
Driving health and safety across the organization as a core value
Planning, communicating and assisting in the execution of health and safety initiatives at our construction sites
Working closely with the data analytics team and operational excellence team to develop tools for tracking construction schedule progress on our builds
Leading and motivating staff to achieve organizational objectives
Empowering the DCD team with the leadership and resources they need to successfully complete delivery initiatives
Provide support and undertake safety walks and reviews across projects as required and on a regular basis
Deputize the AMERS Construction Lead and subregional leads when needed
The development of the AMERS DCD short and long-term strategy, ensuring alignment with short-term and long-term objectives
Assisting with resourcing plans for ongoing projects and new metros in development
Support construction decisions and managing the overall operations and resources of the AMERS DCD Team
Monitoring the overall DCD performance with the AMERS EPC organization and how the teams work together to achieve overall goals
Implementing strategies, together with the EPC team, to determine the strategic direction for the Region
Promoting a positive culture in the DCD team developing and upholding the culture and mission/vision
Building and maintain trusting relationships with key stakeholders
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years related experience OR equivalent experience
