Job Description:

We are looking for a Dayshift Auto Electrician to join our busy Engineering Department! This is a permanent role for a fully qualified Auto Electrician or Vehicle Technician with a strong electrical bias. You will be working a 4 day week dayshift, 37 hours per week. Monday to Friday, rotating.

Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on various makes and models of PSV’s to Lothian & DVSA standards
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of electrical faults
  • Carry out company approved modifications and campaigns
  • Use diagnostic equipment and software to locate, diagnose and rectify faults on mechanical and electrical components
  • Liaise with the parts department to obtain correct parts
  • Ensure health & safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness
  • Ensure all paperwork and inspection sheets are completed in a timely manner
  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses as required

Requirements:

  • You must possess a full UK driving licence
  • You must be a time served Auto Electrician or Vehicle Technician with a strong background in electrical diagnostics
  • Experience in reading wiring schematics is essential
  • A PCV licence is desirable, however the ability to obtain a PCV licence whilst in our employment is essential
  • An aptitude to develop others within the engineering team to improve efficiencies
  • Ability to work under pressure and work as part of a team
  • A flexible approach to working hours
  • Experience of working in the truck or bus industry would be advantageous
  • Experience with Volvo OEM diagnostic tools and information platforms would be advantageous.
