Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team is responsible for the full lifecycle of Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure, spanning site selection, development, and operations. Our global footprint includes more than 400 datacenters in 34 countries, supported by over 165,000 miles of fiber optic cable. These facilities form the backbone of Microsoft Azure and are central to our commitment to reliable, secure, and sustainable digital infrastructure. As part of the CO+I Energy Team, you will join a team of professionals responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and delivering strategic energy projects. The candidate will manage a portfolio of activities to identify and execute energy opportunities to advance Microsoft’s datacenter growth, in line with strategies to leverage sustainability, time to market and economic value in order to solidify Microsoft’s leadership in providing infrastructure for the global AI economy. Microsoft Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO&I) seeks a Datacenter Power Infrastructure Delivery Program Manager, focused on datacenters for the Americas region. The Program Manager will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter power infrastructure including the development of new technology and advanced concepts from pre-programming through design development, construction, and the turnover to Operations. This role will provide infrastructure coordination, management, and overall leadership for our datacenter power infrastructure. To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete distribution, substation, and transmission projects supporting datacenter solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects. The Program Manager will engage with key stakeholder groups within Microsoft, the utility provider, and outside vendors who specialize in datacenter engineering, construction, and operations. Successful candidates will coordinate with multiple Power Utility and Microsoft provider teams of engineers and designers to deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget. The candidate must have excellent project management, communication, organization, and leadership skills. Candidates must possess a high level of proficiency in transmission and substation design and construction. Job Responsibility

  • Facilitate and deliver Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter power infrastructure including the development of new technology and advanced concepts from pre-programming through design development, construction, and the turnover to Operations
  • Serve as the utility point-of-contact for design and construction, coordinating weekly design/construction meetings, routing approvals, managing documentation, and providing weekly scope and schedule reports
  • Ensure cross-functional scope alignment, track funding and POs, build budgets/estimates, and work with the internal team to manage risks and approvals
  • Own the Microsoft Project schedule by working cross-functionally to defining critical path and predecessors, updating progress regularly, verifying equipment dates, and issuing weekly schedule and risk reports with mitigations as needed
  • Track and report all major power utility milestones from contracting, permitting, design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and ready‑for‑service completion

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 3+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles OR equivalent experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in consulting engineering or construction of substations
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check required
