Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our team on a contract basis in New Haven, Connecticut. In this role, you will oversee the full lifecycle management of database systems, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in DB2 Z/OS, DB2, and other database management platforms, along with a strong background in scripting and stored procedures.

Job Responsibility:

Manage and maintain database systems including DB2 Z/OS, DB2, and Snowflake to ensure efficiency and reliability
Utilize database management tools such as VI Editor (Linux), Cron scheduling, and Mainview for effective database operations
Develop and optimize stored procedures within relational database environments for enhanced performance
Perform performance tuning and troubleshooting to address database issues and improve system functionality
Monitor database security and implement measures to safeguard sensitive information
Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless integration and operation of database systems
Create and maintain documentation for database processes, configurations, and standards
Conduct regular backups and recovery operations to minimize data loss
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to incorporate best practices into database management

Requirements:

Proven experience with DB2 Z/OS and DB2 database platforms
Proficiency in database management tools such as Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and MySQL
Strong knowledge of scripting and stored procedures in relational database environments
Expertise in performance tuning to optimize database systems
Familiarity with Linux-based tools like VI Editor and Cron scheduling
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
Solid understanding of database security protocols and best practices
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex database issues
