Job Description:

Temporary contract assignment supporting client's hybrid data environment requiring expertise in both AWS cloud databases and traditional on-premise systems with focus on reliability, performance, and security

Job Responsibility:

Administer, configure, and maintain databases across AWS cloud and on-prem environments
Monitor database performance and implement tuning strategies to ensure system optimization
Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures for hybrid database systems
Support migration, integration, and replication activities between on-premise databases and AWS
Ensure security and compliance standards are followed across environments
Provide troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution for database issues
Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure staff, and stakeholders to support ongoing operations

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Database Administrator in hybrid AWS and on-prem environments
Strong knowledge of AWS RDS, Aurora, EC2-hosted databases, and on-prem systems (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar)
Experience with database performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization
Familiarity with replication, high availability, and failover clustering
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities

Nice to have:

Experience with automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, etc.)
Familiarity with containerized database deployments (Docker, Kubernetes)
Knowledge of scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) for database automation
