Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining, optimizing, and securing database systems that support insurance claims processes. This position offers an opportunity to work in a mission-driven organization dedicated to protecting policyholders and ensuring financial stability.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage and maintain Microsoft Access front-end applications connected to SQL Server back-end databases
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and integrity checks to ensure system reliability
  • Develop, modify, and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and reports to support claims processing
  • Monitor and improve system performance, availability, and security within the claims database environment
  • Collaborate with claims processing teams to understand workflows, data requirements, and reporting needs
  • Document database structures, dependencies, and support procedures for efficient system management
  • Work with IT leadership to explore modernization or migration strategies for legacy systems
  • Create and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate data tasks, file transfers, system monitoring, and reporting
  • Oversee secure data transmission processes with external stakeholders and troubleshoot issues in coordination with partners
  • Conduct regular performance monitoring of databases, scheduled jobs, and logs to ensure system integrity

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Microsoft Access development and maintenance
  • Minimum of 5 years working with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and indexing
  • Proven expertise in supporting insurance claims processing systems, such as property and casualty or workers' compensation
  • Strong knowledge of relational database design, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Proficiency in creating user forms, reports, and automation within Microsoft Access
  • Ability to analyze and reverse-engineer undocumented legacy databases
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Familiarity with performance tuning for SQL databases and related systems
