We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator to join our team on a long-term contract basis in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining, optimizing, and securing database systems that support insurance claims processes. This position offers an opportunity to work in a mission-driven organization dedicated to protecting policyholders and ensuring financial stability.
Job Responsibility:
Manage and maintain Microsoft Access front-end applications connected to SQL Server back-end databases
Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups, restores, and integrity checks to ensure system reliability
Develop, modify, and optimize database queries, stored procedures, and reports to support claims processing
Monitor and improve system performance, availability, and security within the claims database environment
Collaborate with claims processing teams to understand workflows, data requirements, and reporting needs
Document database structures, dependencies, and support procedures for efficient system management
Work with IT leadership to explore modernization or migration strategies for legacy systems
Create and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate data tasks, file transfers, system monitoring, and reporting
Oversee secure data transmission processes with external stakeholders and troubleshoot issues in coordination with partners
Conduct regular performance monitoring of databases, scheduled jobs, and logs to ensure system integrity
Requirements:
At least 5 years of experience in Microsoft Access development and maintenance
Minimum of 5 years working with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, stored procedures, and indexing
Proven expertise in supporting insurance claims processing systems, such as property and casualty or workers' compensation
Strong knowledge of relational database design, troubleshooting, and optimization
Proficiency in creating user forms, reports, and automation within Microsoft Access
Ability to analyze and reverse-engineer undocumented legacy databases
Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Familiarity with performance tuning for SQL databases and related systems
