Job Description

The Database Administrator (Engineering Lead Analyst) is a senior level position responsible for leading a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition and deployment of hardware, software and network infrastructure in coordination with the Technology team. The overall objective of this role is to lead efforts to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned framework.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide guidance and direction in area of PostgreSQL Database technology specialization to support platforms and sectors
  • Apply the discipline of engineering to deliver critical PostgreSQL DB platform support and optimize platform/sector functionality
  • Fully understand, support, and define platform and areas supported to minimize risks and impact to customers
  • Review issues and escalations, as well as resolve production problems, ensuring that status and technical matters are reported to management in a timely manner
  • Utilize skillset to provide support, trouble-shooting and performance-tuning within PostgreSQL DB technical domain
  • Support the creation and implementation of system improvements that will improve performance and reliability while maintaining controls
  • Work closely with our App partners for new projects from initiation to production cutover
  • Identify cost saving opportunities & implement creative DB solutions for clients (collaborate with Infrastructure Delivery team as needed)
  • Serve as a technology subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders and provide direction for all firm mandated controls and compliance initiatives, all projects within the group and in creating a technology domain roadmap
  • Ensure that all integration of functions meet business goals
  • Define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process enhancements
  • Recommend product customization for system integration
  • Identify problem causality, business impact and root causes
  • Exhibit knowledge of how own specialty area contributes to the business and apply knowledge of competitors, products and services
  • Advise or mentor junior team members
  • Impact the engineering function by influencing decisions through advice, counsel or facilitating services
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency

Requirements

  • Multiple years of experience of PostgreSQL (Oracle will be an advantage) preferably in a comparable technology or financial institutions organization
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML-driven application workloads and how they interact with PostgreSQL, with the ability to optimize data models, indexing strategies, and performance characteristics to support AI-enabled platforms and services
  • Can confidently engage with application and engineering teams building AI-powered solutions, providing guidance on PostgreSQL best practices, data flow patterns, and scalability considerations to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑efficient integration of AI use cases
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate clearly in high stress situations
  • Enjoy learning and love sharing your knowledge with others
  • Work independently and are self-directed
  • Detail oriented and perseverant individual
  • Positive attitude with the drive to get the work done
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in an Engineering role
  • Experience working in Financial Services or a large complex and/or global environment
  • Project Management experience
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities and related reporting to identify best practices
  • Demonstrated analytic/diagnostic skills
