Our SaaS platform delivers innovative solutions to thousands of customers, powered by a robust PostgreSQL-based infrastructure on AWS. We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our collaborative architecture team, focusing on maintaining high availability, performance, and security across our database ecosystem while contributing to team excellence. This role will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our data infrastructure on AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift, ensuring reliability, scalability, and efficiency.
Job Responsibility:
Administer and maintain AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift environments
Involved in implementing data strategy activities: processes to transition data from hot to warm to cold
create new data sources in data warehouse based on product needs
Monitor and tune database performance
Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and schema designs to improve application responsiveness and reduce resource usage
Assist in capacity planning and scaling strategies for high-volume SaaS workloads
Support automated deployment and maintenance of database infrastructure using IaC
Implement and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery procedures
Ensure proper access controls, encryption, and auditing are in place
Assist in maintaining compliance with data governance standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR)
Help establish and maintain team documentation standards (ERD, architecture, and data classification)
Collaborate with senior DBAs to design and implement scalable database architectures
Participate in architectural discussions for new feature implementations
Work closely with software engineers and Cloud Ops to support application development and deployment
Provide guidance on PostgreSQL best practices and data modeling
Support data teams in optimizing Redshift for reporting and analytics
Lead small projects within the database team
Share on-call responsibilities with the database team
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
3 – 5 years of experience as a DBA or in a similar role
Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and query optimization
Experience with AWS Aurora PostgreSQL and Amazon Redshift
Database security and compliance
Familiarity with AWS services such as CloudWatch, IAM, S3, and Lambda
Proficiency in writing and debugging SQL and using performance analysis tools
Nice to have:
Experience with infrastructure automation
Experience with database monitoring (Datadog, pganalyze)
Exposure to ETL processes and data warehousing concepts
AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty) is a plus
Experience with Flyway database migration
Experience with MS SQL Server performance tuning and maintenance
