The Data Technician II is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure in a low voltage environment. The ideal candidate will meet the physical demands of the worksite while providing excellent customer service.
Job Responsibility:
Ensure that all cables are neatly tied and bundled per safety regulations
Run, pull, and terminate copper cables
Assist co-workers with installation and routine maintenance of structured cabling systems
Ensure products are installed to industry standards, with faceplates and labels neat and plumb for a professional appearance
Maintain project housekeeping protocols
Keep track of site tools and materials to avoid loss or damage
Requirements:
OSHA 10 certification
Ability to ask applicable questions and willingness to learn new skills
Punctuality and consistent daily attendance
Ownership of basic hand tools (drill, snips, screwdrivers, level)
Ability to use basic hand and power tools to perform assigned job site tasks
Understanding of safety measures related to each division and their application in daily tasks
Familiarity with industry best practices
Ability to work independently and in a group setting
Ability to install cabling according to industry standards with minimal supervision
Ability to install cable pathways, including J-Hooks, Basket Tray, and Ladder Rack
Ability to dress cables neatly and in line with applicable standards
Ability to assist in building out data closets, including 2-Post Racks, Ladder Rack, and Setting Cabinets
Ability to terminate and install standard industry copper connectors with minimal supervision/training
Familiarity with fiber products and ability to identify different fiber types (Single mode and Multimode) and connectors (LC, SC, ST, MPO, APC)
Basic understanding of bonding and grounding installation principles, including Telecommunication Busbars, Compression style connectors, and routing and installation of bonding conductors
Basic understanding of firestopping principles, including Firestop Caulk, Firestop Pillows, and Firestop Putties
Basic understanding of transmission principles, including Copper and Fiber, Copper Testing, and reading redline drawings with accuracy
Limited experience up to 2 years
Aerial lift certification
Fall protection certification/training
Spend more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands, and reaching
Spend approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing
Frequent lifting of items 25-50 pounds is required, and occasional lifting over 50 pounds is required
Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the US
Nice to have:
OSHA 10 certification preferred but not required for hire
