Critical role in the transformation of how Woolworths manages our organisational data. The Group Data Management(GDM) team forms a central function tasked with implementing robust data management across the Woolworths Group. This role is highly visible with the business and you will be influential in the transformation of how Woolworths designs, and implements data management methodology and tooling to drive value from data. Reporting to our Group Data Management Lead, you will be part of a small and dynamic team looking to meet our Group Data Management ambitions by supporting the implementation of our data management framework and controls across the Woolworths business units. As Data management and Data risk specialist you will be responsible for uplifting capability in our business units and working with multiple business groups to support them in effectively managing their data management requirements and applying the Group Data Management and Governance Framework within specific business units.
Job Responsibility:
Support business units in understanding and complying with data risk, statutory, and management reporting requirements, specifically related to data risk management
Prepare and deliver reviews to the management team regarding emerging risks, status of risk assessments, and control performance by applying the Group Data Management and Governance Framework
Organise and conduct workshops and data governance forums to track and resolve data-related issues impacting business and technical stakeholders
Facilitate and implement enhancements to the documentation of the data risk and control environment (e.g., risk and control self-assessments)
Evaluate and challenge risks and controls related to metadata management, data quality, data lineage, data lifecycle, and third-party engagements
Support the development and refinement of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), data tolerances, and performance metrics
Assist in designing, implementing, and maintaining an overall data risk management process, including effective measurements and controls
Identify gaps and conflicts in data management policy and governance guidance, evaluating their impact and recommending remediation actions
Monitor and report on adherence to the Group's Data Risk Management Framework and related policies, supporting maturity monitoring and risk reporting
Support internal audit, regulatory engagements, and remediation efforts, ensuring timely response and delivery
Consult with business units on new initiatives, critical change programs, and technology integration to assess associated data risks
Draft detailed reports and presentations that highlight risks and propose recommended remedial actions for senior management
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Risk, Data Management or equivalent
8+ years experience working in data risk and/or data management role
Minimum of 5 years of data management and policy related experience is required
Working knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) policies
Experience in working with data governance tools like Collibra, Ataccama
Experience in developing and maintaining best practice process and data solutions
Proven experience in building and maintaining strong collaborative working relationships
An ability to communicate complex information in a simple and consumable way
Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle, prioritise multiple tasks and projects concurrently
Nice to have:
Consultative approach to new initiatives with business units including critical change programs, and technology integration to assess associated data
Proficiency in slides and prior consulting experience is desirable
