The Data Scientist will partner with the Product and Data teams to clean, organize, and analyze large volumes of data, developing innovative models, datasets, and visualizations that address our clients’ most pressing questions about the future of work. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong statistical thinking, proficiency in data visualization and large-scale data processing, and solid programming skills in Python, SQL, and statistical or machine learning methods. This role will contribute to projects under the guidance of senior data scientists, make informed business and technology trade-off recommendations when appropriate, and stay current on advancements in the field to deliver state-of-the-art solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Use SQL, Python, or other related analytical tools and programming languages to query, organize, clean, and analyze large datasets
Build pragmatic, scalable, and rigorous solutions to large-scale labor market data problems by leveraging or developing state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning methodologies on top of Lightcast’s data infrastructure
Work cross-functionally to define problem statements, collect data, build models, and make recommendations to stakeholders and technical leaders
Contribute to projects under the guidance of more senior data scientists. Make business/technology trade-off recommendations when appropriate
Keep abreast of advancements in the field and deliver state-of-the-art solutions
Communicate key insights and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders across the organization
Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science or a related quantitative field (Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, etc.)
2 years of relevant industry or graduate research experience applying statistical, machine learning, or analytical methods
Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, NLP/LLMs, algorithms, and handling large datasets
Proficient in data visualization and business productivity tools (Google Suite, Microsoft Office, project management and reporting tools)
Ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
