The Data & Reporting Analyst is responsible for producing accurate, timely, and insightful reports using Excel and Power BI to support operational, financial, and compliance decision-making across the business. The role plays a key part in ensuring data integrity, supporting funding compliance, and providing clear dashboards and reports for senior leaders, managers, and external stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Design, build, and maintain Excel-based reports and dashboards (including formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and data validation)
Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to support performance monitoring and strategic decision-making
Produce regular management information (MI) reports (monthly, quarterly, ad-hoc)
Translate complex data into clear, user-friendly insights for non-technical audiences
Support data requirements linked to funded provision (e.g. apprenticeships, adult skills, bootcamps)
Assist with audit preparation and evidence packs
Ensure reporting aligns with internal processes and external funding rules
Support reconciliation between MIS, learning platforms, and finance data where required
Work closely with operational teams to understand reporting needs
Respond to ad-hoc data requests from managers and senior leaders
Support colleagues to understand and use reports effectively
Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes and systems
Stay up to date with sector-wide system changes and best practices in FE/skills sector data management
Contribute to continuous improvement projects within the data and compliance function
Contribute to the development of a high-performance, data-driven culture across the organisation
Actively support safeguarding and Prevent, ensuring all systems reinforce a safe environment for learners and staff
Carry out any additional duties commensurate with the level of the role, as required by the Head of Data & Compliance
Requirements:
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including advanced formulas and pivot tables)
Experience creating reports or dashboards using Power BI
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy
Ability to explain data clearly to non-technical stakeholders
Confident working independently and managing multiple reporting deadlines
Strong organisational and communication skills
Nice to have:
Experience working in education, training, or a regulated environment
Understanding of management information (MI) or compliance reporting
Experience working with multiple data systems or MIS platforms
Knowledge of Power Query, DAX, or automation tools
