Job Description:

The Data & Reporting Analyst is responsible for producing accurate, timely, and insightful reports using Excel and Power BI to support operational, financial, and compliance decision-making across the business. The role plays a key part in ensuring data integrity, supporting funding compliance, and providing clear dashboards and reports for senior leaders, managers, and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibility:

  • Design, build, and maintain Excel-based reports and dashboards (including formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, and data validation)
  • Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards to support performance monitoring and strategic decision-making
  • Produce regular management information (MI) reports (monthly, quarterly, ad-hoc)
  • Translate complex data into clear, user-friendly insights for non-technical audiences
  • Support data requirements linked to funded provision (e.g. apprenticeships, adult skills, bootcamps)
  • Assist with audit preparation and evidence packs
  • Ensure reporting aligns with internal processes and external funding rules
  • Support reconciliation between MIS, learning platforms, and finance data where required
  • Work closely with operational teams to understand reporting needs
  • Respond to ad-hoc data requests from managers and senior leaders
  • Support colleagues to understand and use reports effectively
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of reporting processes and systems
  • Stay up to date with sector-wide system changes and best practices in FE/skills sector data management
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects within the data and compliance function
  • Contribute to the development of a high-performance, data-driven culture across the organisation
  • Actively support safeguarding and Prevent, ensuring all systems reinforce a safe environment for learners and staff
  • Carry out any additional duties commensurate with the level of the role, as required by the Head of Data & Compliance

Requirements:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (including advanced formulas and pivot tables)
  • Experience creating reports or dashboards using Power BI
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy
  • Ability to explain data clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Confident working independently and managing multiple reporting deadlines
  • Strong organisational and communication skills

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in education, training, or a regulated environment
  • Understanding of management information (MI) or compliance reporting
  • Experience working with multiple data systems or MIS platforms
  • Knowledge of Power Query, DAX, or automation tools
