The Data Project Manager holds primary responsibility for the successful delivery of projects within the investor Services Change team, with a strong focus on across multiple lines of business like: Middle Office, Fund Accounting, ETF, Transfer Agency, Collateral & Reconciliation functions. This role requires a commitment to continuous process improvement, efficient technical solution delivery, and the ability to manage complex cross-functional initiatives, contributing to the standardization and optimization of our investment fund services.
Job Responsibility:
Project Planning & Execution: Develop scope-aligned project plans, oversee multiple projects, and ensure timely and accurate execution of initiatives impacting Transfer Agency, Fund Accounting, and Middle Office functions. Formulate project plans that assess resource requirements and timescales for execution
Scope Management: Effectively manage scope creep, ensuring project objectives remain aligned with business goals and preventing unauthorized changes in funds-related projects
Dependency Management: Proactively identify and manage cross-team and regional dependencies, mitigating risks and ensuring seamless project flow across funds operations
Business Impact & Value: Go beyond "on-time" delivery to measure project success in terms of business impact, value realization, and adoption of process/system changes within the funds domain
Communication & Adoption: Drive effective communication and adoption strategies for process and system changes that impact multiple teams, ensuring smooth transitions and user buy-in for funds services initiatives
Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage stakeholders at all levels, fostering strong relationships and ensuring alignment on project objectives across TA, FA, and MO
Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop robust mitigation plans to address potential project risks within the funds environment. Take proactive actions targeted at minimizing and mitigating implementation risk
Resource Management: Effectively prioritize and manage resources, optimizing allocation to achieve project goals efficiently for funds change projects
Book of Work Management: Manage the book of work across different functions, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities
Conflict Resolution: Skillfully resolve conflicts that may arise within project teams or among stakeholders, maintaining a collaborative environment
Change Influence: Ability to influence change at different levels of the organization, promoting adaptability and innovation in funds operations
System Development & Onboarding: Lead system developments and new business onboarding projects across Operations, facilitating change implementation through efficient technical solutions and testing support
Team Support & People Management: Support manager with running team meetings, providing feedback for 1-2-1s and appraisals, and fostering a positive and professional working environment. Lead and develop project team members, providing guidance and mentorship to foster their professional growth
Requirements:
Minimum 5 years or more of relevant experience in project management or program management within a complex corporate environment, with a strong preference for the financial services industry
Funds Domain Expertise (Required): Minimum 3+ years of experience managing projects related to investment fund operations, specifically in Fund Accounting, Middle Office, and/or Transfer Agency functions
Project Management Fundamentals: Proficient in Project Management fundamentals
Risk Management: Experience in conducting project risk assessments and developing mitigation plans
PMP or other relevant project management certifications
Experience in overseeing multiple test projects, timelines, budgets, and quality gates
Experience in defining overall test strategy and aligning with business objectives
Experience in working with external vendors/offshore teams
Leadership & Influence: Exemplifies leadership qualities towards achieving desired results, drives innovative approaches, and possesses a self-dependent leadership style in complex programs. Ability to manage or lead project teams/departmental projects, provide support to team managers, and mentor junior staff
Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong verbal and written communication skills, effective stakeholder management, and ability to present complex information clearly
Tools: Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or Commerce, or a related field
