A leading, globally recognized law firm is seeking a midlevel associate to join its expanding Cyber, Data Privacy & Security practice in Chicago. This team is at the forefront of high-stakes privacy litigation and regulatory enforcement matters, advising cutting-edge technology companies and global businesses on their most complex and sensitive issues.

Job Responsibility:

  • Represent clients in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions involving consumer protection and data privacy issues (including matters before State Attorneys General, the FTC, and other regulatory bodies)
  • Defend clients in complex privacy and data security litigation, including class actions involving: Data breaches
  • Wiretapping and tracking technologies
  • Stored Communications Act claims
  • Unfair and deceptive trade practices
  • Manage and drive key aspects of litigation, including drafting motions, overseeing discovery, and preparing for hearings and trial
  • Interface directly with clients, providing strategic counseling on risk mitigation and regulatory compliance
  • Collaborate with a globally integrated team across the U.S., Europe, and Asia on cross-border matters

Requirements:

  • 3-6+ years of experience in privacy, cybersecurity, or consumer protection litigation and/or regulatory investigations
  • Experience handling matters involving FTC, State AGs, or similar regulatory bodies strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with data breach litigation, tracking technology claims, or privacy class actions
  • Strong academic credentials from a top law school and large law firm training
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage significant components of complex matters and work directly with clients
  • General comfort with technology and data-driven issues
