iCapital is looking to hire a Data Privacy Attorney to join the Legal team with a focus on data privacy matters. The ideal candidate will work across all functions, help manage external contractual relationships, and supervise outside counsel. This role will work closely with both our General Counsel and other attorneys within our Legal and Compliance groups.

Job Responsibility:

  • Help build, implement and manage privacy policies and practices for our global organization, with a “GDPR-first” approach to standardization (as adjusted for local jurisdiction requirements)
  • Lead new market assessment for personal data issues: determine the specific data privacy requirements of new jurisdictions we do business and guide the teams as to what we can and cannot do from a personal data perspective
  • Draft and review complex, data-driven client agreements, including terms of service, privacy policies and commercial agreements
  • Handle client enquiries regarding data protection practices, withdrawal of information, right to be forgotten and related rights
  • Manage client data rights tracking for new products and services (e.g., portfolio analytics, market insights, indices)
  • Draft and review various contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and other legal documentation
  • Monitor the industry landscape to keep visibility on evolutions, trends and best practices related to data issues (e.g., expanding personal data rights, AI/ML regulations)
  • Perform ad hoc research projects

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience within a top-tier law firm and/or in-house in a data rights management or data protection role
  • Licensed to practice law in good standing in Portugal
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Willing to learn new topics and work in an evolving business environment
  • High level of integrity
