We are looking for an experienced Data/Information Architect to join an engagement based onsite in San Antonio, Texas. In this role, you will lead the design of a modern Power BI reporting environment and help replace fragmented legacy reporting methods with a scalable, well-governed analytics solution. This position is ideal for someone who combines hands-on technical depth with strong stakeholder partnership and a practical approach to enterprise reporting strategy.
Job Responsibility:
Evaluate existing reporting tools, dashboards, databases, spreadsheets, and query-based outputs to understand the current analytics landscape and identify improvement opportunities
Work with business partners to capture reporting needs, key metrics, usage trends, and priorities that will shape the target-state solution
Define the overall Power BI architecture, including dataset strategy, semantic model structure, environment setup, and deployment approach
Build efficient data models and reusable calculations that support scalable reporting, strong usability, and consistent business logic
Integrate data from multiple enterprise and file-based sources while replacing manual transformation steps with streamlined Power Query processes
Redevelop high-priority legacy reports in Power BI, improving performance, usability, and governance while reducing reliance on spreadsheets and standalone databases
Apply security, access controls, and governance standards across datasets, reports, and workspaces to support compliance and clear ownership
Tune model performance, refresh behavior, and query efficiency to ensure reliable reporting for business-critical use cases
Produce clear technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams, including recommendations for future enhancements after the engagement ends
Requirements:
7+ years of business intelligence or analytics experience, with significant Power BI leadership or architecture-level responsibility
Demonstrated success modernizing reporting solutions and migrating from legacy BI platforms and manual reporting tools into Power BI
Advanced expertise with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service in enterprise reporting environments
Strong command of data modeling principles, including dimensional design and star schema development
Hands-on experience with DAX, Power Query, and performance optimization for complex datasets and reports
Solid SQL skills, ideally with experience working in SQL Server environments
Background creating governance standards, workspace structures, and deployment practices for BI platforms
Ability to work onsite in San Antonio, Texas and communicate effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders
