Job Description

Beacon Hill Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented Data GRC Team Lead for our higher education client. The role is responsible for establishing and overseeing the institution's data governance, risk, and compliance framework to ensure data integrity, security, and strategic value. This role leads the implementation of Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Purview solutions to strengthen enterprise data management and governance capabilities. The incumbent will partner closely with leadership and cross-functional stakeholders across IT, Institutional Research, and Academic Affairs to develop policies, standards, and processes that support ethical data and AI governance. Experience in higher education and with Ellucian Banner ERP is essential, along with a proven ability to build data governance programs from the ground up and communicate complex concepts effectively to executive leadership

Job Responsibility

  • Establishing and overseeing the institution's data governance, risk, and compliance framework to ensure data integrity, security, and strategic value

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in establishing and leading Data Governance programs from the ground up, including defining data ownership models, stewardship frameworks, and governance operating procedures
  • Deep expertise with Microsoft Fabric for modern data architecture, analytics integration, and governance enablement across data pipelines and business intelligence environments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Purview for enterprise-wide data cataloging, classification, lineage tracking, and policy enforcement to ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards
  • Proven background in higher education data ecosystems, understanding the unique governance, compliance, and reporting challenges of academic institutions
  • Hands-on experience with Ellucian Banner ERP, including data model comprehension, integration with institutional data lakes, and implementation of governance controls for student, HR, and financial data
  • Demonstrated success in building data governance foundations, including charter creation, stakeholder alignment, data stewardship councils, and data quality monitoring frameworks
  • Skilled in developing and executing Data Governance Roadmaps that align institutional goals with regulatory compliance, data security, and operational efficiency
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills, guiding teams across IT, Institutional Research, and Academic Affairs to establish data accountability and transparency
  • Experienced in implementing Data Risk & Compliance (GRC) frameworks, ensuring alignment with institutional policies, privacy regulations (FERPA, GDPR), and information security standards
  • Adept at change management and communication, promoting a culture of data literacy, ownership, and responsible data use throughout the organization
  • Effectively presents complex data governance concepts, strategies, and insights to institutional leadership to drive informed decision-making and executive buy-in
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Data Management, Computer Science, or a related field
