The Data Governance Lead is responsible for driving the implementation and maturity of data governance practices across the organisation. This role ensures alignment with Group policies, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives, while fostering a culture of accountability and data stewardship.
Job Responsibility:
Own and lead the Data Governance framework, ensuring consistent implementation and adoption of the Data Risk Policy across divisions and alignment with Group strategy
Oversee the review and implementation of technical data standards, promoting consistency, quality, and compliance across platforms and data domains
Monitor divisional compliance with the Group Data Risk Policy, identifying gaps and coordinating remediation efforts
Support and enhance divisional data forums and transition to domain orientated construct, enabling collaboration, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement in governance practices
Strengthen data ownership and stewardship, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability across the data lifecycle
Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology partners, aligning governance initiatives with regulatory, operational, and strategic needs
Champion data quality, integrity, and ethical use, embedding governance principles into data management and decision-making processes
Lead the execution of the plan for regular assurance and controls testing and assessments of data management practices
Maintain structured documentation and tracking of governance activities, standards, and compliance metrics
Collaborate with risk, compliance, and data teams to ensure governance controls are embedded in data products, platforms, and processes
Requirements:
Third Level qualification in Data Analytics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ IT/ Engineering or another discipline including a significant numerical element
Validated experience in data product management, data governance, or analytics within Financial Services or a similarly regulated industry
Strong understanding of customer data domains, including data quality, lineage, and privacy considerations
Ability to lead and run multi-discipline teams, ensuring alignment across diverse departments and functions and achieving strategic goals
Demonstrated ability to prioritise initiatives and strategically align them with business objectives, driving organisational success
Confirmed ability to engage and align with senior leadership and key partners, fostering collaboration and shared vision
Strong leadership and partner engagement skills
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into business value
