Job Description:

The Data Governance Foundation Sr. Group Manager is a senior role managing a team responsible for facilitating all aspects of the Enterprise Data Governance Strategy, and/or Data Risk and Control Framework and Data Risk Taxonomy. Responsibilities include defining the enterprise strategy, collaborating with senior management, and maintaining compliance with laws and regulations. The role requires significant experience in financial services, data governance, and organizational change leadership.

Job Responsibility:

  • Liaise with business/function/regional partners to understand and align Data Governance, and/or Data Risk and Control related work
  • Manage and lead Data Governance, and/or Data Risk and Control, policy, practices, and standards including industry best practices
  • Drive progress, and provide guidance for adherence and continued development of enterprise-wide guiding policies, practices and standards
  • Develop materials to effectively and concisely articulate progress on the Data Governance strategy and/or Data Risk and Control framework for senior leadership and regulatory updates
  • Liaise with metrics team to articulate clear requirements for objective measures necessary to support Data Governance storylines with key stakeholders
  • Participate in governance councils/management forums to provide reporting on risk data execution
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations
  • Adhere to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices
  • Escalate, manage, and report control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability
  • Liaise regularly with regulatory bodies and internal audit teams to close/review key regulatory commitments
  • Collaborate with senior management and other stakeholders to integrate risk data insights into strategic decision-making

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience in a complex, financial organization, with a particular focus in Data Governance
  • 8+ years relevant experience in Banking, Financial Services
  • 8+ years managerial experience leading cross-functional teams
  • 8+ years experience in large-scale, multi-year transformation and capability building efforts
  • 5+ years experience with Data Governance and transformation
  • 5+ years with Enterprise Data Governance Strategy, and/or Data Risk and Control Framework and Data Risk Taxonomy
  • 2+ years experience with Regulators
  • Expertise in one or more of the following core financial services segments preferred: consumer businesses, commercial businesses, capital markets, finance, risk, or compliance
  • Strategic mindset, with ability to foresee future possibilities and translate them into breakthrough strategies
  • Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
  • Can effectively lead change in an organization with Citigroup’s size, scale and complexity
  • Experience leveraging the processes and principles of change management to drive organizational change, defining change criteria, providing support and education, managing resistance, and measuring outcomes
  • Manage through ambiguity by making sense of complex, high quantity and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
  • Promotes a culture of collaboration and teamwork across organizations
  • and demonstrates effective work relationships with business and global function colleagues
  • Experience creating and executing against frameworks that improve the quality and value of data to meet regulatory commitments and enhance risk management
  • Experience leveraging glossary, lineage, and data quality tools to drive governance
  • Experience creating and being a champion for a positive risk culture that supports sustainable business growth through transparent engagement, a partnership approach, and a no-tolerance approach for behavior that exposes the organization to an inappropriate amount of risk
  • Understanding of the overall regulatory environment and previous experience working with regulators on data plan execution, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Citi’s Data Operating Model
