Our client in Redwood City is seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry / Accounting Assistant for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, eager to learn, and wants to support day-to-day accounting and administrative functions. The right candidate will be organized, dependable, and comfortable handling high-volume data entry tasks in a fast-paced office environment. The client is a privately help company. You will report into the Controller who has a very hands on training approach.
Job Responsibility:
Perform accurate and timely data entry of financial and operational information into internal systems
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
Review invoices, purchase orders, and other accounting documents for accuracy and completeness
Reconcile discrepancies and help maintain organized financial records
Support month-end close activities and general accounting administration
Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and documentation as needed
File, scan, and maintain electronic and paper records
Provide general administrative support to the accounting team and office staff
Requirements:
1+ years of experience in data entry, accounting support, clerical, or administrative roles
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Basic understanding of accounting principles preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
QuickBooks knowledge is helpful, but not required
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Nice to have:
Experience supporting AP/AR functions
Prior experience in a small to midsize office environment
Familiarity with accounting software and financial reporting support
