Data Engineering Lead

• Own and evolve our UK & EU data ingestion architecture, spanning GCP services (BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Datastream), Dagster, dbt Core
• Work with Growth, Product, Ops & Clinical teams to design and build new data pipelines that enable optimisation and personalisation (e.g. user segmentation, recommendation features, lifecycle targeting)
• Collaborate with global engineering and platform teams to align on standards while advocating for UK-specific requirements
• Collaborate with analytics engineers, data analysts & data scientists to design data models that are performant, well-documented, and governed
• Develop and maintain ML Feature pipelines to serve production ML use cases
• Implement data observability, lineage, and alerting for ingestion pipelines
• Optimise BigQuery performance and cost through partitioning, clustering, and query design
• Manage and mentor at least one Data / Analytics Engineer, providing guidance on best practices, code quality, and design

• 7-8+ years of experience in data engineering or similar roles, with proven experience designing and maintaining large-scale ingestion systems
• 1 year of direct management experience
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, Terraform and modern data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift)
• Hands-on experience with orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster) and ETL/ELT pipelines
• Experience with implementing or maintaining production ML pipelines
• Understanding of data reliability, observability, and compliance in a regulated or healthcare context (a plus)
• Strong ability to distil requirements into a clear, bespoke solution that creates sustainable value
• Strong communication skills — able to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
