Healthfirst’s 2026 Summer Trailblazer Internship is a 10-week paid program beginning on June 1, 2026. This is an immersive and interactive learning experience, that lays a foundation for continued leadership development. Interns do impactful work, collaborating with other interns, employees, and business leaders to solve current business problems and deliver solutions. Interns must be within a commutable distance from our New York offices at 100 Church Street, and are expected on site Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Operations Analytics and Reporting is a fast-paced, innovative team. Our mission is to ensure accurate and timely member enrollment and premiums billing.
Job Responsibility:
Modernize existing Python scripts currently running on a virtual machine task scheduler by refactoring them into well-structured, maintainable, and production-ready codebases
Rebuild legacy automation using modern Python best practices, including dependency management and packaging with Poetry
Improve reliability, readability, and long-term sustainability of analytics and operational workflows
Partner with analytics and operations stakeholders to understand existing workflows, business intent, and system constraints
Implement consistent project structures, documentation, logging, and error handling
Validate refactored solutions through testing and controlled execution
Manage multiple refactoring efforts in parallel while clearly communicating progress, risks, and tradeoffs
Requirements:
Experience with Python & SQL
familiarity with scripting, automation, or data workflows
Exposure to GIT/GITHUB or software development best practices (project structure, version control, documentation)
Interest in writing maintainable, production-quality code
Excited to learn how analytics and automation operate in real-world, enterprise environments
Continuous learning mindset and strong problem-solving skills
Graduate students must be enrolled at an accredited institution or have graduated within 12 months of the program
