As Data Engineer, you will build and maintain the pipelines, databases, and web applications that connect our lab instruments, external data warehouses, and laboratory information management system (LIMS) into one coherent, reliable data infrastructure.
Job Responsibility
Build and maintain production web applications and the data pipelines behind them (for example in Python/Django)
Design, manage, and integrate structured/relational databases, our LIMS, and external scientific platforms via APIs
Manage and deploy infrastructure on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS): Including compute, storage, networking, and access control
Ensure reliability, security, and clear documentation across the data infrastructure
Work closely with lab scientists and data scientists to translate research needs into practical technical solutions
Network management (switches, routers, access points) and NAS storage
Cybersecurity good practice across cloud, API, and network layers
Microsoft Intune / M365 administration
Requirements
Around 2+ years of hands-on experience as a data engineer, including implementing and running solutions in a production environment
Strong experience building and maintaining production web applications (for example with Python/Django)
Solid SQL and structured/relational database experience
Experience managing and deploying infrastructure on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS), including compute, storage, networking, and access control
Strong troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to documentation, reliability, and security
Version control (Git) and CI/CD practices
Nice to have
Experience integrating scientific platforms such as Benchling, a LIMS, or similar
Experience in life sciences or biotech environments
Experience handling next-generation sequencing data, including storage, transfer, organisation, and analysis
Systems programming in a low-level language (e.g. Rust or C/C++)
Familiarity with IT/infrastructure support (networking, cybersecurity, Microsoft Intune / M365)
