Our client, a leading UK professional services firm is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join its Information Systems function at a pivotal stage in its data transformation programme. With legacy BI infrastructure approaching end-of-life, the firm is undertaking a strategic migration to Microsoft Fabric. This role will be central to delivering that transition and shaping the future enterprise data platform. This is a hands-on engineering role with strong stakeholder exposure and real influence over data architecture and reporting strategy. This is an opportunity to play a key role in building a modern Lakehouse architecture aligned to a long-term Data Strategy.
Job Responsibility:
Support the migration from SAP BW to Microsoft Fabric
Design, build and maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines
Implement ETL/ELT processes using Fabric Data Pipelines and/or Azure Data Factory
Develop robust Finance, HR and Commercial data models
Create and maintain a gold-standard reporting and semantic layer
Embed strong data governance and security standards (including UK GDPR compliance)
Promote engineering best practice, documentation and knowledge sharing
Support team capability development
Requirements:
Proven data engineering experience in an enterprise environment
Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric or Azure-based data platforms
Strong SQL and Python transformation capability
Solid understanding of data modelling and Lakehouse principles
Experience working in agile teams
Strong communicator, able to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
