The Data Tribe is responsible for driving Admiral’s data strategy. We efficiently deliver data pipelines, reports, and analytical capabilities, harnessing innovative techniques and the latest technologies. Our mission is to give more autonomy to our end users in the Business, effectively unlocking insights and driving the success of the company. The Data Engineer will ensure that data solutions are designed and delivered to meet the functional and non-functional demands of the Business and customer. The Data Engineer will be part of a team made up of mixed capabilities, and they should be comfortable working independently as well as part of this diverse team to deliver a shared goal. We aim to create an inclusive and safe environment for Engineers to pursue their own ideas, make their own decisions and empower them to implement and explore them.
Job Responsibility:
Evaluating and comprehending data and information from diverse sources and producing innovative, high-quality solutions to problems that meet Business requirements and drive forward the department strategy
Complying with engineering, design and testing standards and practices, and with Admiral IT governance and architectural standards while performing in a heavily regulated environment
Acting on core engineering principles and values (accountability, transparency, consistency, quality, re-usability and an automate where possible attitude)
Actively participating in Squad, Chapter and Guild ceremonies and activities

Requirements:
Strong hands-on experience using Python and SQL within a data engineering or analytics environment
Proven experience designing, building and maintaining data pipelines, including data ingestion, transformation and orchestration
Practical, commercial experience working with cloud-based data architectures, with a strong focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including: BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Cloud Functions
Experience using Infrastructure as Code tooling such as Terraform to provision, configure and manage cloud resources
Knowledge and experience of automation and data development tools, and working with cloud-native services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, or equivalent technologies
Experience with the design, development and testing of data pipelines, including dimensional modelling approaches such as Kimball-style data warehouse models
Experience working within Agile / Scrum development practices, actively participating in ceremonies and squad activities
Hands-on experience contributing to or supporting CI/CD pipelines, using associated tools and practices to enable testing, deployment and release of data solutions
Comfortable working in a regulated environment, adhering to engineering standards, governance and best practices
Nice to have:
Experience using DBT for data transformation and modelling
Exposure to a broader data tooling ecosystem, such as Azure DevOps, Looker, MicroStrategy or similar platforms
