Reporting to the Data Engineering lead, this role will be responsible for implementing the new data technologies and pipelines required to support our business as they move towards a data-driven future. You will be entering a brown-field environment, helping us to deliver to current business commitments plus also build out our new, next-gen analytics environment. This will enable real-time analytics, machine learning and AI to be democratised across the business.
Job Responsibility:
Implement new data technologies and pipelines within AO’s Azure and AWS environment
Work with Snowflake, Databricks and lakehouse to ensure data is available to business users
Help deliver current business commitments and build new, next-gen analytics environment
Enable real-time analytics, machine learning and AI across the business
Influence technology and business teams
Work hand-in-hand with business to uncover data engineering use cases and embed solutions
Help develop and implement standards, best-practices, subject matter expertise and guidelines
Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements
Deliver quick wins to the AO business
Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency
Implement best practices for data governance, security, and compliance
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data processing, storage, and access
Develop and maintain documentation for data pipelines, schemas, and processes
Mentor junior members of the team
Help define and embed data engineering standards, processes, best practices and design patterns
Create strong relationships with key stakeholders across Tech and the wider group
Requirements:
Significant, relevant long-term experience across a mixture of technical data engineering disciplines and working closely with business
Experience driving data engineering projects and delivering business benefits
Comfortable delivering change in a fast-paced, demanding environment
In-the-know about industry trends and best practice
Fresh ideas and a desire to build a data-driven culture
Proven record of keeping stakeholders informed
Extensive expertise in building and maintaining data pipelines, optimizing data workflows, and ensuring reliability and scalability of data infrastructure
Expertise in AWS, Glue, Databricks/Snowflake, and Lambda functions
Experience in data governance, security, and compliance
