We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Engineer Intern to join our team on an industrial placement as part of your university degree. This role is starting in September 2026 and will focus on helping organisations become data-driven by turning data into insight-led actions and decisions. This is an ideal role for people who are passionate about using data to creatively solve problems, drive innovation and support success. As a member of FSP’s Data Platforms & Solutions team, you will contribute to the development of innovative solutions using Microsoft Azure data services, including but not limited to Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Databricks, SQL and Power BI. This role works closely with colleagues and clients in the UK, so fluency in English is a prerequisite.
Job Responsibility:
Work as part of the wider FSP project team to deliver intelligent data solutions to clients
Assist in defining business requirements for data solutions
Wrangle and clean data using Python, Pyspark and/or SQL
Develop high quality data products utilising (primarily) cloud native patterns
Develop solutions that enable higher quality data to be created & managed in our customers organisations
Work together with our BI and AI teams to provide full Data & AI products
Support our data engineers in testing data solutions through UAT to Production
Learn the latest technology developments and promote these within your projects
Share knowledge as part of the FSP technical community
Requirements:
Strong maths and analytical skills
Passionate about technology
Able to manipulate large datasets
Able to communicate technical concepts to non-technical people
Good level of competency in SQL and Python
An understanding of how different types of databases work
Fluent in English
Starting or within the final year of university (degree to be completed 2027)
