Job Description

We have a 6 month contract to hire opportunity for a hands-on Data Engineer with strong SQL expertise, experience working with Teradata, and proficiency using Git/source control in an Agile Scrum environment. They should have at least 2+ years of experience building and supporting data pipelines, data transformations, and large-scale data processing solutions, with the ability to independently develop complex SQL queries, contribute to code reviews, and deliver high-quality data solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative team setting. 100% Remote. This team manages the Software Platform that powers reward processing for the Ambetter and Medicaid lines of business. There is a new project initiative to complete the migration of the remaining Medicaid LOBs onto a standard enterprise platform and retire the Core legacy platform. The key project is the migration to one consolidated application framework, that is highly configurable and easier to maintain. These individuals will be part of an agile scrum team delivering on this key business initiative.

Job Responsibility

  • Writes basic SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements with occasional guidance
  • Run a FastLoad or MultiLoad script with guidance
  • Independently writes multi-table joins, subqueries, and aggregations
  • Applies Teradata-specific syntax (QUALIFY, SAMPLE, DATE arithmetic) without guidance
  • Performs daily Git operations independently — commit, push, pull, branch
  • Resolves simple merge conflicts with guidance
  • Applies branching strategies (GitFlow or trunk-based) consistently
  • Performs rebases, cherry-picks, and resolves complex conflicts independently
  • Writes clear MR descriptions with context, testing notes, and linked issues
  • Gives specific, actionable review feedback
  • Uses draft MRs and suggestions effectively
  • Configure new Medicaid plans onto the standardized platform
  • Designs and implements standardized data management procedures around data staging, data ingestion, data preparation, data provisioning, and data destruction
  • Designs, develops, implements, tests, documents, and operates large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics
  • Designs, develops, and maintains real-time processing applications and real-time data pipelines
  • Ensure quality of technical solutions as data moves across internal environments
  • Provides insight into the changing data environment, data processing, data storage, and utilization requirements for the company and offers suggestions for solutions
  • Develops, constructs, tests, and maintains architectures using programming language and tools
  • Identifies ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
  • use data to discover tasks that can be automated
  • Performs other duties as assigned
