Job Description:

The Data Curation and Data Management IT Lead is a strategic professional responsible for overseeing enterprise-wide data curation strategies. This highly impactful role requires expertise in data governance, quality, security, cloud solutions, and technical leadership, fostering collaboration with IT and data teams to ensure regulated and trusted data consumption.

Job Responsibility:

Define and implement enterprise data curation strategies aligned with financial regulations and business objectives
Integrates subject matter and industry expertise within a defined area
Oversee and execute data curation to discover the best data for each Critical Data Element, as well as reduce data redundancies
Provide a framework to have a good data organization in the data platforms
Execute and oversee data profiling, standardization, cleansing, and deduplication
Leverage existent data cataloging solutions for easy discovery and usage of data, including data lineage, business glossaries, and metadata repositories
Establish data retention, archival, and disposal policies aligned with regulatory requirements
Advocate for AI-driven automation in data curation and anomaly detection
Drive adoption of Agile and DevOps methodologies in data governance processes
Train and mentor teams on data literacy, stewardship, and management best practices
Contributes to data analytics standards around which others will operate
Applies in-depth understanding of how data analytics collectively integrate within the sub-function as well as coordinate and contribute to the objectives of the entire function
Employs developed communication and diplomacy skills required in order to guide, influence and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas and occasional external customers
Resolves occasionally complex and highly variable issues
Produces detailed analysis of issues where the best course of action is not evident from the information available, but actions must be recommended/taken
Responsible for volume, quality, timeliness and delivery of projects along with short-term planning resource planning
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency
Work closely and collaborate with other IT teams, Data Governance Teams, including Data Stewards
Lead cross-functional data initiatives to drive business value and regulatory adherence
Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field
8+ years of experience in data governance, data management, and IT leadership roles
Experience managing data governance tools (e.g., Ab initio, Collibra, Informatica, Alation)
Hands-on experience with ETL, data integration, cloud data governance, and big data frameworks
Experience working with Ab initio tools – GDE, Metadata Hub, Express IT
as well as experience with Teradata, Cloudera, MongoDB, Snowflake
Proficiency in SQL, NoSQL, data modeling, metadata management, and API-based data exchange
Knowledge of data security and access management using RBAC/ABAC models, encryption, tokenization, and API security protocols
Understanding of cloud computing concepts, knowledge of cloud deployment models, familiarity with major cloud AWS service and awareness of cloud storage options
Ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive enterprise data initiatives, and communicate effectively with executive leadership.
