Under departmental direction, the data collector coordinates activities to support the Head Kinematics in Sports Study. Provides assistance to an established research team by collecting data, keeping records, analyzing data, and preparing reports. Develops and maintains recordkeeping systems and procedures to ensure compliance with study protocols and all appropriate regulations. Visit data collection sites as needed to perform activities including, but not limited to: assist the research team with recruitment activities (screen and consent), administer questionnaires, collecting kinematic data, and answer any questions about the research study. Responsible for the compilation, registration and submission of data, as required by the Sponsor. Travel is required.
Job Responsibility:
Recruit Study Participants- Work with project manager to coordinate and assist with recruitment sessions to enroll study participants
Collect On-Field Data - Attend local and/or national sporting events to collect various forms of on-field data including wearable sensor, activity log, video, and survey data
Collect Qualitative Data - Take detailed notes and/or lead structured interviews with study participants
Manage collected data - Organize collected data, perform any required post-processing steps, and communicate data location to study staff. Communicate any adverse events to research team
Data Analysis - Visually verify and characterize collected data according to developed protocols
Collaboration - Work in partnership with the research team
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Education, or Public Health
or, an equivalent combination of experience and education including training in research methodology, computerized data processing, and/or interviewing techniques
Must complete the CITI certification for Human Subject Research if not already completed
All additional required WakeOne training for research coordinators
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Excellent reading comprehension
Strong organizational skills
Outgoing, professional, persistent, and familiar and open to working in the hospital environment
Familiar with data collection tools (i.e., RedCap) and experienced with Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, and Word
A background in nursing, engineering or other health-related field
Comfortable communicating with physicians, engineers, coaches, team owners, etc.
A person that practices with a critical thinking approach and is not afraid to point out to a superior (senior engineer) that something doesn’t look right
Willing to perform data entry tasks over long periods of time during the day
