Job Description:

We’re seeking a dependable Data Centre Support Engineer to support a broad client base across secure environments. You’ll work hands-on with hardware, cabling and monitoring tools to maintain resilient, well-managed data centre operations while ensuring all activity is accurately recorded and progressed within agreed service levels. You’ll be involved in day-to-day installation, maintenance and remote-hands tasks, ensuring equipment is deployed correctly, faults are addressed promptly and environments remain safe, clean and compliant. You will work closely with internal teams, third-party providers and visiting clients, often acting as their on-site presence in the data centre. The role also includes participation in a 24/7/365 on-call rota for out-of-hours activities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Install, patch and decommission server, network and storage hardware, ensuring accurate documentation and ticket updates
  • Carry out copper and fibre cabling tasks and support fault diagnosis and resolution
  • Complete routine operational checks across network, firewall and system alerts
  • Perform remote-hands duties, including component swaps, testing and power cycling
  • Host and escort client visitors, providing a professional and controlled access experience
  • Maintain adherence to ISO and ITIL standards and uphold data centre housekeeping

Requirements:

  • Current and valid SC and NPPV3 clearance
  • Experience in a similar data centre or hands-on infrastructure support role, including hardware installation, cabling and basic fault resolution
  • Ability to follow procedures accurately, maintain detailed records and work confidently within ISO-aligned and ITIL-based processes
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, third-party providers and internal teams
  • A calm, methodical approach under pressure, particularly when responding to incidents or out-of-hours activity
  • Well-organised, self-motivated and capable of working independently within secure, high-integrity environments
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
