We’re seeking a dependable Data Centre Support Engineer to support a broad client base across secure environments. You’ll work hands-on with hardware, cabling and monitoring tools to maintain resilient, well-managed data centre operations while ensuring all activity is accurately recorded and progressed within agreed service levels. You’ll be involved in day-to-day installation, maintenance and remote-hands tasks, ensuring equipment is deployed correctly, faults are addressed promptly and environments remain safe, clean and compliant. You will work closely with internal teams, third-party providers and visiting clients, often acting as their on-site presence in the data centre.
Job Responsibility:
Install, patch and decommission server, network and storage hardware, ensuring accurate documentation and ticket updates
Carry out copper and fibre cabling tasks and support fault diagnosis and resolution
Complete routine operational checks across network, firewall and system alerts
Perform remote-hands duties, including component swaps, testing and power cycling
Host and escort client visitors, providing a professional and controlled access experience
Maintain adherence to ISO and ITIL standards and uphold data centre housekeeping
Participation in a 24/7/365 on-call rota for out-of-hours activities
Requirements:
Current and valid SC and NPPV3 clearance
Experience in a similar data centre or hands-on infrastructure support role, including hardware installation, cabling and basic fault resolution
Ability to follow procedures accurately, maintain detailed records and work confidently within ISO-aligned and ITIL-based processes
Strong communication skills for liaising with clients, third-party providers and internal teams
A calm, methodical approach under pressure, particularly when responding to incidents or out-of-hours activity
Well-organised, self-motivated and capable of working independently within secure, high-integrity environments
Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
