Job Description:

The role of the Data Center - Site Director requires strong interpersonal, communication, Leadership and organizational skills, ability to self-direct, strong background in construction, engineering, controls, and operational requirements and an emphasis on project/construction management, datacenter lease market experience, client representation, and project level services. This role directly drives and provides oversight of the strategic and tactical delivery of data center projects within their portfolio. The Data Center - Site Director is ultimately responsible for the complete project delivery of each Campus location and Metro to the expectations of Safety, Quality, Predictable Cost and Schedule and Risk Management. The Data Center - Site Director is responsible for ensuring that each project meets Microsoft guidelines and standards, which may be adjusted from time-to-time based on best practices and lessons learned drawn from previous projects as well as industry changing best practice.

Job Responsibility:

  • Responsible for Leadership of Safety, Quality and predictable delivery to meet the business need date and cost expectations
  • Responsible for leading project delivery across multiple campuses and oversight of project teams on those projects
  • Direct fiscal responsibility for the approved project budget
  • Promote collaboration with all partners and stakeholders in support of the project delivery
  • Provide direct oversight of the Construction Managers within the Metro and overall team to ensure that the projects are delivered to expectations
  • Create and maintain best practices to identify and incorporate cost-effective solutions
  • Manage GC(s) and vendor performance along with their integration with internal partners to ensure on time and on budget project delivery
  • Drive deployment of solutions that can be socialized globally across EPC projects
  • Facilitate decision-making to drive timely solutions, schedules, and manage change as required
  • Apply influence, strategies, and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutions to meet project delivery expectations
  • Provide the project with a single point of contact for development and delivery
  • Regularly reviews cost and KPI metrics, invoices, process/policy communications to client partners
  • Coordinate meetings and activities of vendors, cost managers, and integration of lessons learned
  • Attend scheduled owner/architect/contractor (OAC) and other project meetings, and report as necessary
  • Report Project Progress on scope, schedule, and budget weekly or as required
  • Provide weekly project status reporting to DCD standards
  • Provide Vendor oversight and performance management by walking the construction sites daily
  • Preparation of Request for Proposal (RFP’s), PER’s, and other project approval tools & templates
  • Review and approval of vendor scope of work, and design review of site and building plans
  • Validate vendor pay-application and invoice review and approval
  • Manage compliance with prior audit results and recommendations

Requirements:

  • Progressive responsibility in leading Data Center, semiconductor, Oil-gas, Bio-Pharmaceutical or other large scale construction projects
  • Degrees and/or professional licenses in Engineering, Construction Management, Contract Management, Project Management and Leadership
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication Skills, ability to provide clear direction to a diverse team and quickly resolve issues gating project progression
  • Experience leading and driving multiple, large multi-faceted projects, including Safety Management, Quality Management, Risk Management, Contract Management, Project Controls and experience in Fabrication facilities
  • Strong ability to lead a large team independently in order to manage projects predictably in Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and Risk Management, and positively influence cross-discipline teams
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Project Management, Contract Management or Construction Management
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
