As a CO+I Data Center Project Manager, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Job Responsibility:
Leads end-to-end datacenter program and site operations across the Chicago Metro, with a primary focus on facilities management
Ensures that facilities infrastructure and operational programs are executed safely, on schedule, and aligned with capacity and availability requirements
Owns vendor management and performance for facilities operations, driving accountability to SLAs, coordinating maintenance execution, and ensuring consistent delivery across both owned and leased sites
Actively influences vendor staffing, performance management, and escalation handling to meet evolving metro operational needs
Oversees capital projects and facilities infrastructure delivery, including retrofits, customizations, installations, building improvements, and space planning initiatives
Ensures cross-functional alignment and timely execution of new capacity delivery across multiple sites and stakeholder groups with a focus on facilities management
Drives operational excellence and oversight through effective incident management and daily coordination, partnering with CE, IT, Logistics, and Site Services teams to triage issues, mitigate risk, and maintain facilities across the campus without impacting uptime
Leads safety, compliance, and risk management efforts across facilities operations, ensuring adherence to EHS standards, OSHA requirements, and Microsoft policies while reinforcing vendor and team accountability for safe execution
Serves as the interface between Microsoft and external partners, coordinating facility-related issues—such as repairs, infrastructure conditions, and external property impacts—and driving resolution through vendors and third parties
Drives continuous improvement and operational scaling across the metro by managing Opex and Capex investments, optimizing maintenance delivery models, and ensuring facilities readiness to support growth, deployments, and evolving datacenter requirements
Requirements:
High School Qualification or equivalent AND 3+ years experience supporting IT equipment or related technology or delivering server and network deployment projects in large-scale environments OR equivalent experience
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
Verification of US Citizenship
Nice to have:
3+ Years’ experience in a 24x7x365 production environment or related experience
3+ Years’ experience in datacenter processes and tooling or related experience
3+ Years’ experience in change control processes
Technical College degree or certification in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, Electrical- or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience
