The Data Center Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of data center infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical systems that support business applications and services. The engineer collaborates with IT, facilities, and security teams to deliver high-availability environments while adhering to industry standards, operational best practices, and compliance requirements. Working within a fast-paced, mission-critical environment, the Data Center Engineer monitors system performance, performs routine maintenance, manages hardware installations, and resolves technical issues related to server, network, storage, and power systems. The role also includes contributing to the continuous improvement of data center operations, supporting capacity planning, disaster recovery efforts, and infrastructure upgrades.
Job Responsibility:
Design, implementation, maintenance, and day-to-day operations of data center infrastructure
Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of mission-critical systems
Collaborate with IT, facilities, and security teams to deliver high-availability environments
Monitor system performance, perform routine maintenance, manage hardware installations, and resolve technical issues related to server, network, storage, and power systems
Contribute to continuous improvement of data center operations, supporting capacity planning, disaster recovery efforts, and infrastructure upgrades
Requirements:
Maintain and manage physical and virtual server infrastructure, storage systems, and networking components within the data center
Monitor environmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity, airflow) and ensure proper functioning of cooling, power, and UPS systems
Install, configure, and troubleshoot hardware including servers, network equipment, racks, cabling, and power distribution units
Perform system updates, patching, backups, and hardware replacements as needed
Ensure compliance with operational and security protocols, including access control and incident management procedures
Participate in infrastructure projects, migrations, and system deployments
Provide support for disaster recovery planning and execution
Maintain accurate documentation of configurations, maintenance records, and network diagrams
Respond to alerts and incidents in a timely manner, providing on-call support as needed
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan for data center capacity, growth, and efficiency improvements
