Job Description

The Data Center Cost Manager provides comprehensive cost management services across the complete lifecycle of data center projects—from initial feasibility and budgeting through procurement, construction, and project closeout. You will collaborate closely with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure projects are delivered within approved budgets while maintaining quality, schedule, and performance requirements. This role requires deep understanding of the data center market, MEP-intensive cost structures, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic consulting environment while building our growing data center practice.

Job Responsibility

  • Develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, cost plans, and cash flow forecasts for data center projects ranging from 5MW to 100MW+ capacity
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at all project stages including concept, schematic design, detailed design, pre-tender, and post-contract phases
  • Lead value engineering exercises to optimize design efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Conduct cost benchmarking and market analysis specific to data center construction and critical infrastructure components
  • Manage comprehensive tender processes including preparation of bills of quantities, bid analysis, and detailed recommendation reports
  • Evaluate and negotiate change orders and contract variations during construction phases
  • Provide specialized cost advice on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems critical to data center operations including UPS systems, cooling infrastructure, power distribution, and backup generators
  • Collaborate effectively with project managers, design teams, and clients to align budgets with project objectives and performance requirements
  • Prepare and deliver monthly cost reports and financial updates for both internal stakeholders and client review
  • Present cost analyses and recommendations to senior client stakeholders with confidence and clarity
  • Support development of cost databases and advanced cost modeling tools specifically for data center projects
  • Contribute to building and expanding our data center cost management practice
  • Develop innovative tools, methodologies, and working processes to enhance service delivery
  • Ensure strict adherence to corporate governance, risk management, and compliance requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Professional certification (RICS, AACE, or equivalent) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of cost management experience with at least 3 years focused specifically on data center or critical infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated experience with projects valued at €10M+ and involving complex MEP systems
  • Deep knowledge of data center infrastructure including UPS systems, cooling technologies, power distribution, fire suppression, and backup power systems
  • Strong understanding of European construction standards, codes, and regulations relevant to critical facilities
  • Proficiency in cost management software, advanced Excel modeling, BIM tools, and project management platforms
  • Experience with procurement processes, contract administration, and change order management
  • Fluency in English (essential)

  • Proven client presentation and stakeholder management experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
