Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Catalog Administrator to oversee and optimize our enterprise data catalog platform. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing metadata, ensuring effective data discovery, implementing governance protocols, and tracking data lineage within the organization. This is a long-term contract position based in Columbus, Ohio, offering an exciting opportunity to collaborate across technical and business teams to enhance data accessibility and governance.

Job Responsibility

  • Administer and maintain the enterprise data catalog platform, ensuring seamless integration with various data sources, databases, and applications
  • Monitor system performance, resolve technical issues, and optimize configurations to maintain platform efficiency
  • Manage metadata ingestion, curation, and classification to support robust data discovery and governance protocols
  • Collaborate with data stewards and governance teams to enforce data standards, implement policies, and track data lineage
  • Develop and execute role-based access control and data security policies to safeguard organizational data
  • Partner with business and technical teams to promote data literacy and encourage adoption of the data catalog platform
  • Conduct training sessions and onboarding programs to ensure users can effectively navigate and utilize the platform
  • Maintain documentation and establish best practices for metadata management and catalog usage
  • Evaluate new features and enhancements, recommending improvements to ensure the platform remains up-to-date
  • Automate catalog-related tasks using APIs and scripting to streamline processes and improve efficiency

Requirements

  • Experience with EC2 or EKS clusters for compute
  • Experience with RDS/PostgreSQL for Alation backend databases
  • Experience with EFS or S3 for storage of backups and artifacts
  • Experience with Load balancers ALB/NLB for UI and API access
  • Experience with Subnets private preferred
  • Experience with Route tables
  • Experience with NAT gateways
  • Experience with Internet gateway only where required
  • S3 access for storage/backups/logs
  • Glue Redshift or EMR integrations when cataloging AWS data sources
