Job Description

Excllent opportunity to join Admiral as Data and Responsible AI Risk Lead! This is a key role that sits within our 2nd line Risk and Compliance Function responsible for Risk oversight across Admiral’s UK Insurance business. In this role you will be responsible for leading the 2nd line oversight and challenge of Risk management in context of all aspects of Data Governance and Artificial intelligence (AI) including GenAI, Machine Learning, Large Language Models, Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing and Data Science. This is a newly created role for the UK insurance business and an exciting opportunity to help develop the mechanisms that will ensure that the UK Insurance business continues to effectively manage Data and AI Risks.

Job Responsibility

  • Promote and embed EUI’s and Admiral's Enterprise Risk Management Frameworks (ERMF) processes, awareness and understanding across the UK Insurance Business
  • Be responsible for 2nd line oversight and challenge of Data and AI risks across EUI, ensuring the business proactively identifies, manages, mitigates and monitors current and emerging risks in line with the UK Insurance Risk Appetite, Group Risk Policies and the Enterprise Risk Management Framework
  • Oversight and challenge of the business's adherence to the EUI Risk Appetite for Data and AI Risks, ensuring the process is owned by relevant Line 1 teams and contributing to the annual refresh of the EUI Risk Appetite for approval by EUI Board
  • Responsible for second line risk assessments of the key Data and AI risks and controls across the UK Insurance business, identifying, assessing, escalating and reporting on potential risks and issues to Admiral
  • Providing review and challenge for EUI change projects related to Data and AI via steering committee membership or undertaking project risk reviews
  • Assess the impact of Data and AI change within the business to Admiral's risk profile, ensuring timely identification of key themes and emerging risks, issues and exposure, and providing recommendations to management to mitigate and resolve potential issues
  • Promoting Data & AI risk governance and management as part of the wider Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) processes, improving awareness and understanding across the EUI to minimise the potential impacts upon the business
  • Developing and coaching team members to enable them to develop their knowledge and skills
  • Leading on the development, modification and review of all EUI level Data & AI risk policies and standards ensuring alignment with the risk appetite statements
  • Maintaining awareness of legal and regulatory requirements on managing Data & AI risk, keeping up to date on current industry practices and implement change where needed within the development plan
  • Producing reports and recommendations on Data & AI risk topics as required for EUI Committees/Board
  • Providing advice to guide and support new propositions, products or areas of business expansion

Requirements

  • Subject Matter expertise – Data Governance and AI industry frameworks/regulations allowing you to be recognised as an expert within the business
  • Extensive experience in a Data & AI risk/governance or Information Security experience focusing on Data/AI would be beneficial
  • A proactive, forward-thinking and inquisitive mind with attention to detail
  • Initiative and the ability to introduce fresh thinking to the role and the wider Risk and Compliance team
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and stakeholder management
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and Planning and Organising skills
  • Experience working within a regulated environment such as the financial services/Insurance sector
  • Hold one or more relevant Data or AI qualifications/certifications
