As Column’s first Data Analytics Engineer, you’ll help build the foundation for how we use data to operate, monitor, and grow our business. You’ll be responsible for modeling and maintaining our core datasets, building trusted dashboards, tooling, and enabling fast, accurate analysis across our teams. You won’t just be executing on ticketed requests - you’ll act as a thought partner to leaders across the company, proactively identifying opportunities, scoping impactful projects, and driving them end-to-end. We’re looking for someone with high agency: a builder who can push forward projects independently, work cross-functionally without waiting for permission, and is excited to own complex, regulated domains.
Job Responsibility:
Build foundational data products, dashboards and tools to enable self-serve analytics to scale across the company
Partner with Engineering, Solutions Engineering, and Design teams to inform decisions
Build tools for internal users (Finance, Risk, Compliance, Ops) to self-serve critical data
Own data models and warehouse architecture across core banking systems
Ensure data quality, observability, and regulatory compliance (e.g., audit trails)
Define best practices for analytics engineering and scalable reporting
Requirements:
4-10 years of experience in a data-focused role (e.g., analytics engineer, data analyst, data scientist, or software engineer), ideally at a high-growth startup or fintech
Advanced proficiency in SQL and Python, with an eye for clean, maintainable code
Strong product intuition and a bias for building pragmatic, simple solutions
Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and security in regulated environments
Nice to have:
experience working with banking or financial systems, regulatory/compliance reporting, or financial modeling
What we offer:
Comprehensive health, dental, and vision plans, including options that are 100% covered by Column for you and 100% covered for your dependents
Comprehensive family planning and fertility benefits via partnership with Carrot, including reimbursement of up to $20,000 in qualified expenses
Up to $2,000 (post-tax) monthly rent subsidy for employees living within 2 miles of Column’s office
FSA and HSA account options to enable use of pre-tax money for medical and dependent care expenses

Flexible time-off policy - take the time off that you want and need to relax and recharge
100% paid parental leave, including 16 weeks for birth mothers, 12 weeks for primary caregivers, and 8 weeks for secondary caregivers
Up to $4,500 in annual reimbursements for backup childcare
Catered lunches and dinners for SF employees
Commuter benefits, including paid transportation to-and-from the office
Regular team building events, including annual offsite
