From SQL to Power BI to Python, you’ll turn complex data into clear insight that drives real change across Water Networks Operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Working with large data sets drawn from a wide variety of internal and external sources, including environmental data, survey feedback and operational data
  • Design and interrogation of databases
  • carrying out data transformations and liaising with the business to improve our ways of working
  • Supporting the business and working with stakeholders to design, build, and maintain a range of reports
  • Becoming a key point of contact, collaborating with colleagues, and engaging with stakeholders to further our objectives
  • Maintaining data quality and ensuring data is secure and properly utilised in line with the GDPR
  • Bridge the gap between the business and data, using analytical thinking to solve business problems to generate value, presented through clear presentations and insight

Requirements:

  • A positive, curious mindset and a natural interest in solving problems with data
  • Experience working with large datasets, databases or reporting, or a strong understanding of how operational data works and the confidence to pick things up quickly
  • A willingness and ability to learn new tools and techniques as you go
  • Experience with some form of query language like TSQL or ANSI SQL
  • Experience with some form of scripting language, like Python or R, is an advantage
  • Experience with a dashboarding software like Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity with tools like R, Business Objects, Microsoft Azure services or Microsoft Office is helpful too
  • The ability to explain complex information in a clear, engaging way to different people
  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in an analytical subject such as Science, Maths or Geography is an advantage but not essential
  • Experience using your analytical skills in a business setting and the confidence to work with and support stakeholders

Nice to have:

  • Experience with some form of scripting language, like Python or R
  • Experience with Power BI or Tableau
  • Familiarity with R, Business Objects, Microsoft Azure services or Microsoft Office
  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in an analytical subject such as Science, Maths or Geography
