Working as a Data Analyst you will be responsible for providing end users with the tools to support business needs. You will assist users with the analyses and interpretation of the data as well as maintain and enhance existing Data Warehouse. You enjoy working in a fast paced environment and have the ability to prioritize and multitask. You strive for excellence and are devoted to continuous learning. Projects will range from small, distinct pieces of work to long term program engagements.
Job Responsibility
Meet with users to understand their reporting/data requirements
Generate reports using SQL Server Reporting Services with SQL server and Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services as data sources
Create cubes and dimension data using Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services and build queries using MDX
Build reports for end users and dashboards for the departments in SSRS and Excel
Support and troubleshoot SQL based Datawarehouse, including SSIS and SSAS
Document and execute unit testing, system integration and provide user acceptance testing support
Help users analyse and interpret the data
Research questions using available resources
Identify and escalate complex problems or issues to management
Stay current with technologies used, system information, changes and updates
Requirements
Postsecondary diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence
Experience working in a Microsoft-based data environment required
Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (SQL 2017 or later), including SSRS, SSAS, and SSIS
Advanced T-SQL skills, including DDL and DML queries
Experience with data warehousing concepts and BI solution design and development
Knowledge of dimensional modeling and relational database design techniques
Experience with reporting tools such as SSRS, Power BI (preferred), and Jet Reports (asset)
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, VBA)
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
Experience in the optical industry is considered an asset
Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft, BI, Data Analytics) are an asset
