Job Description

Are you a skilled data contract professional looking for your next challenge? Our Edmonton client is seeking a talented Data Analyst for an exciting 12-month contract opportunity to help shape their core data foundation. In this role, you will work alongside existing technical teams to provide critical analytical capacity during the model design and build phases. If you excel at validating data models, analyzing complex environmental and regulatory datasets, and creating impactful prototypes, this contract is the perfect fit for your expertise. Note: although this position is remote, the candidate is required to be situated within Alberta while performing work. Only candidates identified within Alberta will be contacted if short-listed.

Job Responsibility

  • Test proposed canonical elements against actual live datasets to ensure accuracy
  • Validate Unified Business Object model assumptions using historical monitoring data and reporting templates
  • Surface potential data edge cases early during the initial design and build phases
  • Analyze measurement comparability, unit normalization issues, and temporal consistency across data layers
  • Identify areas where data standardization is safe versus where it would alter business meaning
  • Produce evidence-based recommendations to support and improve the overall data architecture
  • Build exploratory analytical views to test aggregation behavior, trend stability, and query feasibility at scale

Requirements

  • A degree or diploma in business or IT, or a Certified Business Analysis Professional designation from the International Institute of Business Analysis
  • Three years of direct experience performing requirement analysis, solution design, and deployment related to data analysis, visualization, and data mining
  • Three years of hands-on experience performing business requirement analysis focused on data manipulation, cleansing, and wrangling
  • Three years of direct experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions for complex or regulated datasets
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, facilitate workshops, and align technical decisions with enterprise standards

What we offer

  • Work on a high-visibility project that directly impacts how the business operates and structures its long-term data foundation
  • Collaborate with an experienced, multi-disciplinary team of technical staff and program specialists
  • Gain valuable experience working with large-scale, complex ambient monitoring and regulatory datasets
  • Enjoy the stability of a long-term, 12-month contract position with a prominent organization
  • Expand your professional portfolio by solving sophisticated data architecture and semantic analysis challenges
