Job Responsibility:
Practical Excellence: Plan and deliver high-impact D&T lessons across KS3 and KS4, focusing on safety, technical precision, and creative innovation.
Design Process Leadership: Guide students through the iterative design cycle-research, sketching, modeling, CAD/CAM development, and final manufacture.
Technical Mastery: Model the safe and expert use of a wide range of machinery, including lathes, pillars drills, 3D printers, and laser cutters.
Exam Preparation: Lead GCSE cohorts through their NEA (Non-Exam Assessment) portfolios and theory exams, ensuring students meet all assessment criteria to a high standard.
Inclusive Innovation: Differentiate projects to ensure all students, including those with EAL or SEN, can successfully engage with practical tasks and technical theory.
Workshop Management: Work closely with technicians to maintain a safe, organised, and inspiring workshop environment that adheres to all health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. A degree in Design & Technology, Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
Inner-City Resilience: The ability to build strong, respectful relationships with students from diverse backgrounds and manage a busy workshop environment with confidence.
H&S Certification: Current health and safety certificates for the use of workshop machinery (DATA or equivalent) are highly desirable.
CAD/CAM Skills: Proficiency in design software such as 2D Design, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360, and the ability to integrate modern manufacturing into student projects.
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad).
