Montreat College and the Carolina Cyber Center have an open position to assist a series of cybersecurity training classes, help us advance the practice of cybersecurity training, and to provide hands-on mentoring to workforce development apprentices.
Job Responsibility:
Facilitate a discussion section or tutorial
Manage Discord/Slack channel
Hold weekly office hours for tutoring or lab assistance
Grade homework, programming assignments, exams, or projects
Facilitate Capture the Flag events and other gamified learning activities
Assist Instructor as requested
Lead and mentor young adults into cybersecurity careers
Support training focusing on entry-level skills and certifications (e.g., CompTIA ITF+, A+, Network+, Linux+, Security+)
Requirements:
Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and affirm and support the vision, mission, statement of faith, and community life covenant of Montreat College
Successfully completed classes in IT Basics, PC and OS, Networks, Scripting, and Security Basics
Knowledge and experience in Learning Management Systems
Passion for teaching and supporting IT and cybersecurity talent development
Nice to have:
Student in pursuit of an Associate or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security, or Cybersecurity
Experience teaching, mentoring, tutoring, or coaching
Certifications in areas such as: Linux+, IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, various cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
