Job Description

Montreat College and the Carolina Cyber Center have an open position to assist a series of cybersecurity training classes, help us advance the practice of cybersecurity training, and to provide hands-on mentoring to workforce development apprentices.

Job Responsibility

  • Facilitate a discussion section or tutorial
  • Manage Discord/Slack channel
  • Hold weekly office hours for tutoring or lab assistance
  • Grade homework, programming assignments, exams, or projects
  • keep records
  • Create Completed Assignment report weekly, indicating student performance
  • Facilitate Capture the Flag events and other gamified learning activities
  • Assist Instructor as requested
  • Lead and mentor young adults into cybersecurity careers
  • Support training focusing on entry-level skills and certifications (e.g., CompTIA ITF+, A+, Network+, Linux+, Security+)

Requirements

  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and affirm and support the vision, mission, statement of faith, and community life covenant of Montreat College
  • Successfully completed classes in IT Basics, PC and OS, Networks, Scripting, and Security Basics
  • Knowledge and experience in Learning Management Systems
  • Passion for teaching and supporting IT and cybersecurity talent development

Nice to have

  • Student in pursuit of an Associate or Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Security, or Cybersecurity
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, tutoring, or coaching
  • Certifications in areas such as: Linux+, IT Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, various cloud security certifications (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
