We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join our Security Engineering & Architecture team. This internship is designed for a candidate eager to gain hands-on experience in security automation, detection and response, vulnerability management, and threat intelligence. A core focus of this role will be learning, analyzing, and documenting existing security processes with the goal of identifying opportunities to automate and improve operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field and has demonstrated foundational knowledge through industry certifications and practical experience. The intern will be expected to complete a defined major project by the end of the internship, which will serve as the primary measurement for a successful internship experience.
Job Responsibility:
Assist in the development and implementation of automated detection and response workflows to reduce manual intervention and improve response times
Support the automation of routine security tasks, including log parsing, alert triage, and report generation
Identify repetitive manual processes within the security team and contribute to building scripts or playbooks to automate them
Assist in monitoring and analyzing security logs and alerts to identify anomalies, threats, and potential incidents
Support the development and refinement of detection rules and response playbooks for common threat scenarios
Participate in incident response activities, documenting findings and contributing to post-incident reviews
Assist in vulnerability scanning and assessment activities, helping to track, prioritize, and report on identified vulnerabilities across systems and cloud environments
Support the team in validating remediation efforts and maintaining an accurate vulnerability inventory
Help gather, analyze, and operationalize threat intelligence feeds to enhance detection capabilities
Contribute to the production of threat intelligence reports summarizing emerging threats, attack trends, and recommended mitigations relevant to Veolia’s environment
Shadow and interview team members to learn and thoroughly document core security processes, workflows, and procedures
Produce clear, structured process documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs) as a foundation for future automation efforts
Identify gaps and inefficiencies in current workflows and propose automation-ready process improvements
Assist in building and maintaining security dashboards and metrics reports for internal stakeholders
Help automate the generation of recurring security reports, reducing manual effort and improving consistency.
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field
Foundational knowledge of security principles, including threat identification, access controls, and security monitoring
Familiarity with networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and firewall fundamentals
Hands-on experience or coursework in Linux command line and Windows administration
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and thorough technical documentation.
