We are looking for a Cyber Security Engineer to join our team in West Des Moines, Iowa in a contract role with the potential to become permanent. This position focuses on strengthening enterprise security across infrastructure, applications, cloud environments, and data assets while helping the organization stay ahead of threats and emerging risks. The ideal candidate will combine hands-on technical expertise with strong judgment in incident response, compliance support, and modern security practices, including the secure use of AI technologies.
Job Responsibility:
Design, implement, and enhance security measures that safeguard endpoints, servers, networks, applications, cloud environments, and sensitive data
Oversee daily activity across security tools and investigate alerts, vulnerabilities, and suspicious events to reduce organizational risk
Review logs and telemetry from enterprise monitoring platforms, cloud security solutions, and related tools to identify threats and unusual behavior
Lead or contribute to incident response efforts by assessing events, coordinating containment, and supporting recovery activities
Partner with internal stakeholders to prepare for and support security audits and compliance reviews, including frameworks such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2
Help develop and refine security policies, standards, and procedural documentation to strengthen governance and consistency
Serve as a technical resource for AI security by evaluating risks, recommending safeguards, and promoting secure adoption of emerging technologies
Establish and track security controls for AI-enabled tools to support responsible use and ongoing oversight
Work with cross-functional teams to improve security posture through continuous control monitoring, risk reduction, and configuration improvements
Requirements:
5-8+ years of experience in information security or cybersecurity engineering roles
Hands-on knowledge of cybersecurity operations, including threat monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management
Experience securing firewalls, endpoints, servers, applications, cloud platforms, and enterprise data
Familiarity with compliance and audit activities tied to standards such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, and data protection requirements including GDPR
Understanding of application security, configuration management, data loss prevention, and security operations center practices
Experience working with AI or applied artificial intelligence security considerations in an enterprise environment
Certification such as CISSP, CCSP, or another comparable security credential is required
