Job Description:

Specialist customs position at IKEA's Beauharnois Distribution Centre focusing on import/export processes and supply chain operations in a global environment, ensuring compliance with Canada/US regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibility:

  • Secure compliance in every customs declaration
  • Identify, investigate, and act to resolve inaccuracies and deviations including submission of entry corrections and adjustments
  • Handle information and documents with internal stakeholders, external service providers and authorities to ensure timely, accurate and compliant declarations for imports and exports
  • Maintain master data for filing relevant declarations with appropriate authorities
  • Update standard operating procedures for assigned tasks
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of post-entry corrections and adjustments
  • Share and maintain relevant customs knowledge, collaborating with co-workers to share insights
  • Develop and secure strategic partnerships internally and externally that drive change and secure compliance
  • Secure import and export processes are anchored with excellence in operations and a culture of compliance
  • Contribute to an environment where IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces diversity

Requirements:

  • Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation and/or 3-5 years' experience in a Customs related field (importer, broker, consultant)
  • Enthusiastic about import/export processes and supply chain operations in a global environment
  • Strong interest in Canada/US regulatory requirements such as classification, valuation, country of origin, free trade agreements, anti-dumping and surtax
  • Experience working in a high volume and fast paced office/distribution environment
  • Analytical and results driven with investigation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to quickly understand and clearly communicate complex topics
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport
  • Excellent personal computer skills and expertise in Microsoft Excel
